Published Sep 16, 2020Mastodon have long been lauded for their typically burly guitar riffs, and if you're wondering how the four-piece fuel themselves to crank out these crushing sounds album after album, bassist Troy Sanders can give you an idea with the launch of a new cooking show.
On the first instalment of Cooking with Mastodon, "Chef Troyardee" shows viewers how they can serve up some "home" "made" pizza with their preferred combination of ingredients and an artisan vinyl record crust. Sure, it ultimately isn't edible, but it's fun to imagine record collectors recoiling in horror as Sanders tops it with all manner of fixings.
For instance, the dishevelled chef stresses the importance of "[circling] the sauce" on his delicious dollar bin find, ahead of adding "imported Norwegian horse meat" pepperoni, "fresh mozzarella from a goat that [he] milked this morning," and "green pepper that is starting to turn black," which "indicates almost rotten but flavour at its peak."
Mastodon's Facebook page indicates that more hellish kitchen creations are on the way, asking viewers to "stay tuned for next week's instalment."
