Published May 14, 2020A posthumous debut album from Brooklyn drill upstart Pop Smoke has been announced. While a title and tracklist have yet to be revealed, manager Steven Victor revealed on Instagram that the effort will touch down on June 12.
Pop Smoke's forthcoming album follows the late rapper's pair of breakout mixtapes: 2019's Meet the Woo and this year's Meet the Woo 2.
The latter effort saw release weeks before the 20-year-old artist was shot and killed during an armed robbery at his home in the Hollywood Hills.
A joint statement last week from Victor and Pop Smoke's family pointed to the imminent arrival of posthumous material.
"Throughout the next year we will be sharing new music, as we continue to work to build Pop's legacy," the statement reads. "In conjunction with his estate, we will be making formal announcements on his foundation and music projects."
A posthumous verse from Pop Smoke recently appeared on a new album from NAV. His 2020 team-up with Quavo, "Shake the Room," received a posthumous music video in March.
